Her name was RayLee. They called her the Acid Jazz Singer, her sultry voice mesmerizing human and demon alike. She´d been running for three years from her maker and only Travis McKenzie stood between her and the darkness that had become her life. Travis hunted the hit squads of demons and paid lip service to the sheriff of the city. The half-blood had gifts of the magic shifting kind - and something more. It made him a stone cold killer and the only thing that mattered in his life was safeguarding the woman he was falling in love with. The singer and the protector had a history. But that history changed when a southern bigot vamp turned Travis´ friend into a travesty - neither man, nor woman - but both. Travis fell hard for the trans known as RayLee. He was having a harder time dealing with his best friend, Ray. Then the game changes, and Travis and Ray have to rely on an assassin with a secret agenda and uncertain loyalties. Vladimira was the oldest of her kind, an enforcer - a gun for hire to the highest bidder. Vamp, human, demon. It didn´t matter. It was all about the job - until the stakes changed and she found a reason to care. When the demon comes to claim Ray, Travis must walk through the bowels of hell to save the only being on earth he cares about. The problem is - who is going to save Travis from himself? 1. Yep, this is the Sing, Sing, Sing and it´s only arranged for young players by Victor Lopez. The classic drum solo along with a written out tenor solo, brass ranges within guidelines, and lots of meaty ensemble keep this great chart exciting. It will sound full with reduced instrumentation plus, there are optional parts included for flute, horn, baritone horn, and tuba. Still a showstopper. (2:16)
Believe it or not, this Benny Goodman classic has never been available for standard big band instrumentation. The original contains solo clarinet and less than a full compliment of brass, so we asked arranger Mike Lewis to adapt this classic tune for five saxes, four trumpets, and four trombones with rhythm section, without straying from the original feel. His chart does just that, creating a welcome addition to any jazz band library. We know you´ll enjoy it! Medium (4:15)
You can´t miss with this very easy version of the Louis Prima/Benny Goodman classic. Now every band will be able to enjoy this great tune, especially younger ensembles. Paul Cook is a master at arranging for this level. (duration 2:30)
This radio dramatization of the classic movie, featuring the original stars, aired on June 2, 1947. The Lux Radio Theatre was one of radio´s most popular series, attracting Hollywood´s top stars and boasting a lavish budget. It began in 1934 by featuring dramas from Broadway, but there was not enough material to support the show. In an attempt to reverse the slipping ratings, the show was moved to Hollywood in 1936, where there was plenty of material and talent. In fact, filmmaker Cecil B. DeMille often served as the host. 1.
