Her name was RayLee. They called her the Acid Jazz Singer, her sultry voice mesmerizing human and demon alike. She'd been running for three years from her maker and only Travis McKenzie stood between her and the darkness that had become her life. Travis hunted the hit squads of demons and paid lip service to the sheriff of the city. The half-blood had gifts of the magic shifting kind - and something more. It made him a stone cold killer and the only thing that mattered in his life was safeguarding the woman he was falling in love with. The singer and the protector had a history. But that history changed when a southern bigot vamp turned Travis' friend into a travesty - neither man, nor woman - but both. Travis fell hard for the trans known as RayLee. He was having a harder time dealing with his best friend, Ray. Then the game changes, and Travis and Ray have to rely on an assassin with a secret agenda and uncertain loyalties. Vladimira was the oldest of her kind, an enforcer - a gun for hire to the highest bidder. Vamp, human, demon. It didn't matter. It was all about the job - until the stakes changed and she found a reason to care. When the demon comes to claim Ray, Travis must walk through the bowels of hell to save the only being on earth he cares about. The problem is - who is going to save Travis from himself? 1. At The Shelter, no one judges the runaway teens who come in off the rainy Seattle streets. Volunteers, like police psychologist Daphne Matthews, want only to rescue and rebuild lives. Being a cop, Daphne thinks she's seen it all. But, as best-selling author Ridley Pearson's edge-of-your-seat thriller opens, what she encounters in a 16-year-old girl chills her in a way she thought a case no longer could. For help, Daphne turns to the best cop she knows: Lou Boldt, a man with creative instincts and an appreciation for forensic lab techniques. Boldt isn't a cop anymore; he's playing jazz piano in a downtown club and doing his best to forget the past. When Daphne puts her evidence on the table, Boldt is hooked. By all appearances someone is illegally harvesting human organs for transplant. Soon the two cops - and former lovers - are drawn into the dark vortex of a high-tech, highly profitable underground industry, and into the mind of its founder: a doctor gone very, very bad; a man who began by trying to save patients unable to get donor organs through legitimate channels; a healer who let ambition, or something more sinister, turn him into a killer. The case gets personal when Daphne's friend and fellow Shelter volunteer Sharon Shaffer is abducted, and evidence left behind indicates she's about to become the killer's next organ donor. Daphne and Boldt have only days, hours, minutes to save Sharon from a killer about to make one final, unforgettable contribution to humankind. Meanwhile a woman caught in a nightmare of captivity rattles the bars of a secret makeshift prison, too far from civilization for anyone to hear her scream. Written with a researched realism so convincing that the story could have come from today's headlines, Ridley Pearson's The Angel Maker will hold listeners spellbound as it explores the passion to create life, and the power to destroy it. This is a novel so shattering, so bizarre, and so terrifying tha 1. Language: English. Narrator: Jeff Cummings. Audio sample: http://samples.audible.de/bk/brll/003885/bk_brll_003885_sample.mp3. High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! An archtop guitar is a steel-stringed acoustic or semi-acoustic guitar with a full body and a distinctive arched top, whose sound is particularly popular with blues and jazz players. The archtop guitar is often credited to Orville Gibson, whose innovative designs led to the formation of the Gibson Mandolin-Guitar Mfg. Co, Ltd in 1902. His 1898 patent for a mandolin, which was also applicable to guitars according to the specifications, was intended to enhance "power and quality of tone." Among the features of this instrument were a violin-style arched top and back, each carved from a single piece of wood, and thicker in the middle than at the sides, sides carved to shape from a single block of wood, and a lack of internal "braces, splices, blocks or bridges which, if employed, would rob the instrument of much of its volume of tone." However, Gibson was not the first to apply violin design principles to the guitar. Guitar maker A. H. Merrill, for example, patented in 1896 a very modern looking instrument "of the guitar and mandolin type with egg-shaped hoop or sides and a graduated convex back and top."
