The Jazz Theory Workbook

This is a primer in jazz theory, intended to prepare the student for the serious study of jazz improvisation, arrangement and composition. The focus is on the harmonic language of jazz, especially the harmonic practices which coalesced in the bebop and post bop periods of the 1940's and 1950's when bebop and standard tunes formed the core of the mainstream repertoire. The harmonic language of that period is still the framework on which contemporary jazz musicians build. Included are many musical examples and written assignments for practice in the theoretical skills. Appropriate exercises are provided to reinforce theoretical concepts by immediate application to the instrument.

Radio Jazz Plus is a French-language internet radio located in Montréal, Québec that defines itself as "Le smooth jazz sans frontières...en français! (Smooth jazz without borders...in French!)". Radio Jazz Plus operates 24/7 and is frequently amongst the 25 most popular Smooth Jazz radio stations in the world, according to Shoutcast''s list of smooth jazz radio station. Radio Jazz Plus was launched on October 15, 2005. Radio Jazz Plus differs from most FM channels and other Internet stations in that the music played is not limited to English speaking artists. More specifically, it addresses the common problem that non-English speaking jazz artists face: their music is not played by mainstream jazz radio. Radio Jazz Plus resolves this problem by featuring so-called world music alongside contemporary jazz.
